LUIZ PHILIPPE VIEIRA DE MELLO FILHO was born in Belo Horizonte, MG on March 24, 1961. He graduated in Law from the Federal University of Minas Gerais-UFMG in 1985.
In 1987 he joined the Judicature, approved in a public tender for Substitute District Labour Judge of the Regional Labor Court (TRT) of the 3rd Region. He served as President of several Conciliation and Judgment Boards in the State of Minas Gerais (3rd JCJ of Belo Horizonte, Ouro Preto, 2nd JCJ of Uberaba, João Monlevade) and served as Substitute District Labour Judge in several other areas (3rd, 4th, 11th, 15th, 17th and 18th of Belo Horizonte, Poços de Caldas, Ubá, Ponte Nova).

He was promoted, by merit, to the post of Regional Labour Court Judge of the 3rd Region in August 1998. He was summoned by the Superior Labour Court (TST), since 1999, to temporarily replace Justices of the Court.

He was elected Director of the Judicial School of the Regional Labour Court of the 3rd Region in the 2001/2003 term.

In February 2006 he was appointed Justice of the Superior Labour Court.

Since 1992, Justice Vieira de Mello Filho has been involved in avaliation boards of public tenders. He is the author of books and papers published individually or in co-authorship, and whenever he is available he participates as a lecturer in congresses and legal seminars. In addition, he has been an instructor at the TST-CEFAST Center of Formation and Improvement for Advisors and Servers and has been working as a collaborating professor at ENAMAT.

In 2006 he was part of the Temporary Committee to prepare the proposal for structuring the future National School of Formation and Improvement of Labour Magistrates-ENAMAT.

He was a member of the ENAMAT Advisory Board for the term 2013/2015.

He held the Presidency of the Documentation Commission of the Superior Labour Court for the years 2011/2013 and 2013/2015.

He took office as Director of ENAMAT on February 19, 2018, and was elected for the 2018/2020 term.

Currently, he is a member of the 7th Chamber and SBDI-1 of the Superior Labour Court.
