Augusto César Leite de Carvalho holds a Master's Degree in Law (Law and Development) from the Federal University of Ceará (2000) and obtained a Master's Degree in Social Relations Law from the University of Castilla la Mancha. He holds a doctorate in Social Relations Law from the University of Castilla la Mancha, where he defended his thesis in July 2011, with revalidation in Brazil by the Federal University of Pernambuco (2013).

Currently is a Post-Doctorate student in Human Rights at the University of Salamanca, Spain. He was adjunct professor at the Federal University of Sergipe from 1997 to 2009, retiring to take the position of Justice of the Superior Labour Court.

In Brasília, he teaches Labour Law and Labour Procedural Law at the undergraduate and postgraduate level of the IESB - Institute of Higher Education in Brasília, where he also presides the Human Rights Observatory.

He worked as a Contracts Law professor in the postgraduate program at the Autonomous University of Lisbon and as a professor in the lato sensu post-graduation course in Constitutional Labour Law at the University of Brasilia, in partnership with the TST.

He was a lawyer, prosecutor, district labour court judge and regional labour court judge in the Regional Labour Court (TRT) of the 20th Region, where he also held the positions of President of TRT and Director of the Judicial School.

Since December 2009, he has been a Justice of the Superior Labour Court, where he composed the Advisory Board of the National School of Formation and Improvement of Labour Magistrates, chaired the Information Technology Steering Committee and chairs the Documentation Committee, responsible for the TST Magazine, for the memory of Labour Justice and the TST library.

He has academic experience in the area of Law, specially on Labour Law, working mainly on the following subjects: labour law, labour procedural law, fundamental rights, civil servant, labour regime and collective bargaining.

He is the author of dozens of legal papers, has participated in legal collections and is the author of the books "Direito Individual do Trabalho" (Rio de Janeiro: Forensic Publishing Company, 2007), "Garantia de Indenidade no Brasil" (São Paulo: LTr, 2013) and "Direito do Trabalho: curso e discurso" (São Paulo: Editr LTr, 2016). He participated in legal congresses, as professor or lecturer, in Lisbon, Rome and, in Brazil, in Manaus, Belém, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Campinas, Paulínia, Curitiba, Foz do Iguaçu, Porto Alegre and Brasília. He participated, as a guest, in legal events in Washington, Barcelona and Geneva related to social rights issues.
